Police in London investigates Sierra Leonean teenager

An investigation has been launched by police in London as vulnerable girl from Sierra Leone walks into Kent police station. Detectives are appealing for information about the teenage girl.

Little is said to be known about the girl, who is believed to be aged around 16 and originally from Sierra Leone.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who might have come to her assistance in Gravesend, Kent, on January 19.

The teenager is safe and well, but the circumstances of her whereabouts before she went to Gravesend police station are being investigated.

London CityShe is described as black and was wearing red jeans, a black hooded coat and black and white trainers.

Police believe the girl spoke to a number of people and asked for directions to the nearest police station, before arriving in a distressed state at 7.20pm.

Detective Constable Rob Sircar, of Kent Police, said: ‘This is an unusual set of circumstances and we are making enquiries to establish where the girl may have been staying and under what conditions.

‘We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the girl walking or those who spoke to her.’
