Over the past ten days the Elect Kadi Sesay Campaign
Team has closely followed publications on the
internet and in local tabloids regarding an SLPP
delegate’s opinion poll emanating from a
controversial source. Particularly, our team woke up
to the statement that: "certain candidates for the
SLPP flag–bearer position are getting desperate and
have started engaging in unsavoury tactics to raise
their visibility".
The July 14, 2010 edition of Awareness Times newspaper
was categorical that "unscrupulous supporters of
Kadi Sesay" were the source of the suspect delegate
opinion poll.
The Campaign Team wishes to reiterate Kadi Sesay’s
platform of "transparency, accountability, and
integrity". We have made our campaign strategy very
clear to everyone over the past three months. We
have never seen any need to prepare and publish an
opinion poll as a means of influencing the hearts
and minds of the delegates.
We have taken our campaign right round the country and
feel satisfied with the growing endorsements from
people across the regions, from all walks of life.
People have been inspired by our candidate’s message
and agree with her policy priorities, vision, and
sense of purpose.
Our campaign is armed with testimonies from across the
country attesting this. Opinion poll from whatever
source bears no relevance to our candidate’s
platform of accountability, transparency, and
integrity.
We want to make it abundantly clear that Kadi Sesay
has not been privy to the generation and publication
of the suspect delegate count opinion polls.
Equally, Kadi Sesay has not found evidence that a
member of the Elect Kadi Sesay Campaign Team was
involved in the generation and publication of the
suspect poll. We view any insinuation to the
contrary as unfortunate; the circumstances
notwithstanding.
Our team runs a proactive and forward-looking campaign
focused on our candidate’s platform. We are very
confident that the SLPP has been presented with a
candidate who has an impeccable track record, and
well prepared to bring our party the glory it duly
deserves.
Over the past three months, Kadi Sesay has
demonstrated a unique ability to attract new voters
to SLPP because of people’s growing awareness of her
sensitivity to the issues of our time and her proven
capability to provide a better direction for the
country.
We are therefore not distracted by the publication but
continue to keep our focus on our core platform as
the gateway to the hearts and minds of Sierra
Leoneans. It is our position that the current
leadership contest in SLPP has produced many
extraordinary candidates many of whom would make a
great President if given the chance.
Our focus is to work with all aspirants and Party
members to give this country the leadership it
deserves. We strongly believe that at such a time
when our country continues to suffer in silence, now
is the time for the SLPP to come together and rise
above bigotry in readiness for victory in 2012.
The Elect Kadi Sesay Campaign Team will continue to
canvass delegates, supporters and skeptics and work
to sustain the momentum we have built on to the
finish line of the SLPP race, and take our campaign
into the 2012 elections to bring back the Party to
State House. In the coming weeks, our team will
update the public with further details of our
campaign.
