Supreme Court Judges in Freetown are reading out their judgement in the case involving the former vice president Sam Sumana (Photo – centre), who was sacked early this year by president Koroma.

Lawyers for the sacked vice president have argued in the Supreme Court that his sacking was unconstitutional and unlawful.

But the president says that he sacked his vice president because he had been thrown out of the ruling party and therefore cannot continue to serve as vice president.

The Supreme Court Judges are expected to deliver their final judgement this afternoon.

Will justice, the rule of law and more importantly – ruling by law be seen to be done today?

The Sierra Leone Telegraph has learnt that the Acting Chief Justice has ruled that president Koroma has the power to sack the vice president and has done so lawfully.

This ruling by the Acting Chief Justice has also been corroborated by one of the other five Judges – Justice Browne Marke.

It now remains for the other three learned Judges to give their respective ruling.

Sierra Leone Telegraph will bring you more on this explosive story as we get it.
