Maada Bio returns home to mourn with the bereaved

Maada Bio at Heathrow Airport - March 2015Yesterday, 10th March 2015, the former Head of State and 2012 Presidential Candidate of the SLPP, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio, boarded a flight at the Heathrow International airport to return to Sierra Leone.

He is returning home to mourn with bereaved SLPP families, following the death of two remarkable SLPP members in the past week.

“The SLPP is a family. Therefore, when people who have devoted the best parts of their lives to serving the party and made extraordinary sacrifices in furtherance of the ideals and values of the party, we all have to be with their families to console them at this difficult time. So I am coming home as a mark of respect and to mourn with grieving families.” says Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio at the Heathrow International Airport.

On the 3rd March 2015, the SLPP released an obituary announcing the death of the National Publicity Secretary – Hon. Musa Tamba Sam. On the 5th March 2015, the Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio released a personal tribute, praising the late Hon. Musa Tamba Sam for his selfless service and dedication to the SLPP.

The Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio also used the tribute to appeal to all SLPP members to seize the opportunity of the death, to strengthen common bond as party members and do everything humanly possible to foster peace and unity within the SLPP.

In a similar sad development, the SLPP also released an obituary of the death of the late Hon. Maigore Kallon, which took place on Thursday 5th March 2015. The late Hon. Maigore Kallon was a former Chairman of the SLPP and former minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio is expected to have arrived in Freetown today Wednesday 11th March 2015.

He will be paying official condolence visits to Mrs Tamba Sam and family and the Maigore Kallon Family, to sympathise with them on the death of their loved ones.

Whilst in Sierra Leone, the 2012 Presidential Candidate is also expected to engage senior party stakeholders and officers of the National Executive of the SLPP to promote peace, unity and dialogue efforts within the SLPP.
