Sierra Leone presidential hopeful Alie Kabba sends Christmas greetings to all

Sierra Leone Telegraph: 26 December 2015

Alie Kaaba 2My fellow citizens, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas!

On this auspicious day, we are once again reminded of the felicitous and tolerant spirit of Sierra Leoneans as we, Christians and Muslims, prayerfully and jubilantly celebrate this wonderful and holy holiday.

May God’s mercy and blessings continue to shine on our beloved country!

I urge all leaders and ordinary citizens to work together for a better and more civilized politics and for protection of the sanctity of the rule of law.

I am appealing to the institutions of the state to remain constitutionally independent, free and fair, and to protect the powerful as well as the weak and voiceless.

This is an absolute necessity if this wonderful country that we love so much is to develop, reach its full potential, and take its place among the world’s great nations.

salone poverty1It is the rule of law and the supremacy of the constitution that will ensure our place as a great liberal democracy, rather than devolve into another failed state statistic in Africa.

We, Sierra Leoneans, are a good and decent people and our country’s noble stance on religious freedom, tolerance and comity is the envy of other countries in the region.

Let us transfer this nobility of our hearts on to politics and work together to make our country great.

On this wonderful and blessed day of Christmas, I want to assure you that despite my recent unjust arrest and incarceration, I am free, strong and serene, by the Grace of God.

SLPP logoI am overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible efforts of SLPP national and global executives, party leaders, valiant party rank-and-file members, my campaign team and all supporters. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This is the second time that I have been jailed by APC governments: in 1985 as a student leader, and thirty years later, as a political opponent.

I am not bitter. Hate is too great a burden for me to bear. I am rather sticking with love!

My life is dedicated to making Sierra Leone great, and the minor inconvenience of an occasional jail visit is a small price to pay for a Sierra Leone that is prosperous, democratic, fair, just and that works for everybody, be you rich or poor.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance!

One Country, One People!!

Your Humble Servant – Alie Kabba.

  1. Thank you our big brother Alie Kabba on the ground there in Sierra Leone fighting for the rule of law and democracy to prevail in our motherland. We have some people who don’t know what good governance and leadership is in Sierra Leone since 2007 when the APC came again in to power.

May God bless you for your efforts and struggles to get Sierra Leone back to good leadership and good governance that was and will always be the top priorities of the SLPP party.

I also wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year

  2. A bit doubtful as to whether Alie Kabba’s message is a goodwill to mark the time of the year – Christmas; or is it political?
