Dr. Samura Kamara’s New Year’s address to the people of Sierra Leone

Dr. Samura Kamara: Sierra Leone Telegraph: 02 January 2021:

My dear compatriots at home and abroad, a year has gone by, and as always, we are thankful to All Mighty God for keeping us going, throughout this unusually difficult and challenging year. We should be particularly grateful for His grace upon us regarding the deadly Corona Virus pandemic in view of how it has ravaged other parts of the world.

Even as I commend you for playing your part in mitigating its spread; even as I continue to urge you not to lower your guard in protecting yourselves and your loved ones against the disease; and even as I continue, in my humble way, to help in raising awareness and in combating the virus by speaking about it and by providing face masks and economic relief; I still believe that the responsibility is ours, as citizens, to stay the course of staving off this ruinous disease.

My sincere condolences go out to those who have lost loved ones and may the souls of the faithful departed rest in perfect peace.

In this regard, I want to seize this opportunity to express profound appreciation to the international community and development partners for their assistance in fighting and mitigating the impacts of the Virus.

My compatriots, about this same time last year, I had the privilege and honour to share with you my thoughts and concerns about where our beloved country was headed since the Bio-led Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP)- PAOPA- came to power under the mantra of “New Direction”.

The nation will certainly recall the profound apprehension and fears I expressed then: that in just 20 months after President Maada Bio came to power, precisely, on 18 April 2018, our beloved country (and I quote) “ … experienced an unprecedented abuse of power; unravelling of our judiciary; a dangerous co-option of our Parliament and of our security apparatus; a scornful curtailing of our civil liberties; a mindless poisoning of the investment environment; a deliberate entrenchment of tribal and regional politics; and a collapsed economy…” (end of quote).

One year has gone by since I made that statement and tonight, in my capacity, once again, as the 2018 Presidential candidate, and also now, flag bearer aspirant of the Great All People’s Congress (APC) party for the 2023 Presidential Elections, I want the nation to look back with me in order to prove whether or not the fears I expressed then were founded.

With these realities our people lived through in the year gone by, the obvious conclusion is that the fears and concerns I raised were indeed justified. The major factor responsible for the deplorable conditions and circumstances many of us experienced and lived through in 2019, which made me to express the concerns I raised, is President Bio’s determination from day one to govern this country on the basis of a cynical and dangerous ethno-regionalism, laced with a massive display of nepotism and cronyism.

Most disturbing in 2020, is the fact that the President has failed to realize that continuing this heavily skewed path in managing our country is destructive of national unity, development, democracy and sustainable peace. Rather, the President in 2020, took that same policy to a whole new level with the sole aim of further dividing the nation.

The fallout from that posture and its impact on the lives of our people have been most disastrous. President Bio’s administration is not listening; and there is little or no end in sight as we usher in and celebrate the New Year.

The pain and suffering endured by our people due to this misguided ethno-regional policy has been deep and widespread.

Today, I want to commiserate and promise to stand firm with the thousands of school children who could not pass their WASSCE and qualify for entry into universities and their parents who are still overburdened with a variety of high educational charges despite the New Direction’s so-called policy of “Free Quality Education”; with the thousands of civil servants kicked out of their jobs because they do not belong to the political party or tribe in power and so continue to languish with no means of survival; with the many doctors, nurses, and teachers in our various institutions whose conditions of service still remain unbearable; and, last but not least, with the business community and overall citizenry unable to access even the local currency to sustain their lives and livelihoods only because the national economy has grounded to halt.

Speaking about the economy, it is important to put the records straight. This Bio administration never inherited, “a broken economy”. Incidentally, the GDP growth is still where the EBK administration left it in 2017, at 3.5%, after having recovered from an unprecedented decline to -20.5 in 2015, largely due to the effects of EBOLA and unexpected sharp fall in international commodity prices, from a positive growth rate of 20.5% in 2013 (the highest in the world) and 6.3% in 2016.

Comparatively, according to the Minister of Finance in his 2021 Budget Statement, the economy is expected to contract by 2.8% due to the adverse impact of the Corona Virus. And, unfortunately for the people of Sierra Leone, according to the Minister, the economy is expected to recover by a miserable 3.3% in 2021 and 3.9% in the period 2022 to 2023.

The question is: What if the adverse impact of the Corona virus was as deep-seated as that of the Ebola virus? What we have in the Bio administration is a textbook example of gross ineptitude and inexperience in the management of a nation’s economy.

The sudden and unexplained scarcity of our local currency in the economy, essentially the fault of the Governor of our Central Bank, and the inability of the commercial banks to give back to their customers amounts that are due them clearly manifest this characterization.

Fellow Sierra Leoneans, I fully understand the current economic hardship that is ravaging our country. I have seen first-hand evidence during my trips around the country of the severe difficulty families encounter trying to put food on the table for their children. I met Madam Hawa Kallon from DARU, Kailahun district; she explained how she needs to help neighbours with their domestic work in order to get a plate of rice for her family because her husband is jobless.

Mr. Abu Kamara, a former civil servant working in one of the Ministries, was sacked by this government without pay because of his perceived tribe, party and region of origin, as such supporting his family is now impossible. It is now very clear that the promise of solving the bread and butter issues by this government within six months in office will never come, even though we have waited for almost three years now.

Okada and Kekeh riders, Sweissy and Belgium Sellers, from Dove Court, Abacha, Kroo Town Road to Lumley Petty Traders, carpenters, domestic workers and farmers, I am with you through this tough times. Certainly these stories of joblessness, starvation, hardship, tribal and regional sackings, which we’ve never experienced in our 60 years history, are caused by the Bio government’s ill-informed policies of dividing the country and stifling the economy.

Corona virus cannot be used as a scapegoat for such economic incompetence and regional divide. Managing an economy such as ours should not be based on some flimsy rhetoric of propaganda, populism and lies made to appease political party loyalists or to turn one region against another. It should be on a sound understanding of how the economic fundamentals work, and how they should be applied and sequenced toward the path to economic transformation.

Fellow Sierra Leoneans You will recall that during the 2018 presidential debate I questioned the sincerity and competence of those who were painting a picture of Sierra Leone from thin air that have very little understanding of how the economy and general development works.

Today, you will agree with me that the current economic dispensation does not match that UTOPIAN vision of Sierra Leone they painted because the promise of better must be based on a record of delivery. It is unprecedented for the Central Bank Governor to tell this nation that “wae money nor dae ee nor dae”.

My Compatriots, as if the pain and suffering on our people was not enough, President Bio’s deliberate policy of exclusive governance based on ethno-regionalism reached its apogee in the past year as he has used it to continue to roll over the largest Opposition Party in the country with the insidious aim of wiping it off the political map of Sierra Leone and send it into oblivion.

The infamous GTT Report and the choreographed Commissions of Inquiry (CoI) Reports and White Paper were meant to do just that. The result is that today, members of the Opposition APC are being hounded everywhere; banned from travelling abroad and their bank accounts frozen. Worse still, others have been falsely accused, refused bail and unjustly held in prison while the human rights of others have been systematically violated.

And here I want to highlight the ongoing trials and tribulation of Retired Major Palo Conteh and the gross violations of the human rights of Dr. Sylvia Blyden, and several other junior, senior and prominent members of the APC, including Herbert George Williams. Abubakarr Daramy and Koita. Even our former Head of State and Chairman and Leader of the Party, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, has not been spared from such blatant harassment. I salute their courage and fortitude in speaking truth to power.

Today, I want to seize this opportunity again to call on President Bio and his government to free Retired Major Palo Conteh and the many other innocent members of the Opposition APC party currently languishing unjustly in police custody. The entire nation is also appalled by the wanton extra-judicial massacres of several of innocent citizens at the Pademba Road Correctional Center, as well as in Makeni, Tombo, Mile 91, Tonko Limba and Lunsar, and is demanding justice. May their souls rest in perfect peace.

Fellow Sierra Leoneans, as the 2019 Audit report currently undergoes popular scrutiny, I must state that its findings clearly reveal the blatant and deliberate disregard for transparency and accountability by the Bio administration in the management of public funds despite the very visible underpinning public financial management laws, rules, processes and procedures.

Similarly, the current attempt, also by the Bio government to introduce a non-partisan system of local government is a deliberate distraction from the hard priorities for improving the lives and livelihoods of the citizens. Clearly, a non-partisan local governance contributes absolutely nothing to national development. It is a ploy to undermine and irreparably derail our hard-earned democracy, putting political exigencies above development priorities.

This senseless political ambition must be resisted by all citizens irrespective of tribe, region or party. It is nothing order than an aim to recentralize power and authority towards re-establishing another one party system of government. Its medium to long-term impacts on our political system are extremely costly and disastrous to building a better future for our country.

Equally, I strongly condemn the conduct of the so-called mid-term census, which is unconstitutional. I congratulate those opposition leaders and citizens who have already firmly rejected both the mid-term census and the imposed decentralization policy.

My Compatriots, today, I am cautiously optimistic that all is not lost and that our beloved nation will not be pushed to the brink. The power of the people will prevail in one way or the other because in 2023, they will have the opportunity to change course and decide once more which direction they want their country to take.

As a party, we should find time to reflect upon the needless obstacles thrown on our path, the harassment, the unlawful arrests and detentions we have had to endure. We should reflect upon the unprovoked massacre of innocent citizens. Without doubt, these sad realities would serve as a reminder to everyone to take national elections seriously and to think twice before casting your votes. But it is also imperative for all of us in the APC to put aside our individual differences, close ranks and confront this disastrous epidemic of political and economic incompetence and recklessness.

Sierra Leone doesn’t deserve such setback; our people are crying for us to step forward and to ensure the removal, through the BALLOT BOX, of this SLPP government of mis-directors from power. This is a responsibility we must not shy away from.

It is a challenge we must take on with every fibre of our nerves to save our nation from greater perils. This is both important and urgent given the lack of an adaptive leadership and systems thinking in managing our nation and in mitigating the general hardship we have witnessed in the last three years.

May the New Year bring amongst us the unity and consolidation the nation is yearning for. Stay safe and protect yourselves, your families and your communities from the ravaging Corona Virus Pandemic

Happy New Year and God bless us all.

Editor’s note:

Since Dr Samura Kamara delivered this message yesterday, president Bio has pardoned Palo Conteh who is now a free man.

  1. It’s rather unfortunate that this DRUNKARD is waiting the precious time of the judiciary by filing a petition against the result of the free and fair 2018 presidential election. He is still struggling with the idea of being a SORE LOSER who is taking solace in drinking “Omolay and Poyo” and engaging in preaching tribalism and hatred unfortunately in the mosques.

New Year speeches are only delivered by LEADERS around the world and not SORE LOSER to inform the citizens about the achievements and challenges of the previous year and lay out the plan and path for the future in order to motivate the people. The good news is, Samura Kamara has admitted that he lost the 2018 presidential election by assuming that he is now the 2023 presidential candidate of the destructive APC party for the 2023 presidential election. Unfortunately, he didn’t even muster the courage to congratulate President Bio for winning the MCC which his party has consistently failed for 10 years.

Congratulations to Paola Conteh for his release from the prerogative of mercy of our forgiving president. I hope his family will try to make an appointment with a psychiatrist home so he can immediately start his therapy. I personally believe that only an insane man will take a loaded gun to the statehouse instead of leaving it at home or his vehicle, and two years in prison has definitely pushed his insanity from bad to worse.

    • Sometimes we see some of the truth but what we do, at times we try to ignore it. The day this picture appeared on the screen I was terrified brother. As a 69 old man, I can understand that he does not have a military background, but I was disappointed by the image, looking horrible indeed.

  2. Honestly Mr Turay, Dr Samura Kamara needs to really pay attention to those points you have mentioned also, if he is to become a serious contender for the 2023 APC flagbearership. Sierra Leoneans are poor, but trust me they love politicians with good personality and charisma. This accounts for over 50% of the factors that win elections in Sierra Leone. Yes he should take his politics seriously, but for God’s sake let him chill out and smile a lot more when he speaks.

He is up against many younger and charismatic candidates in the APC for the flagbearership, such as Joseph F. Kamara, Richard Konteh, Kaifala Marah, Possibly Alpha Kanu (if he does not cross carpet to the SLPP by then), or even Retired major Palo Conteh. So Samura is going to have a tough fight in his hands at the party’s convention later this year. If he doesn’t change now, it will all be too late! The question is – can he change? Or is it too much to ask him to change?

    • Well, Mr John I admire your courage, but you disappoint me by not mentioning my choice for 2023 APC flagbearership, Chief Sam Sumana. I think the party should look East and West this time for the next elections. They should generalise the APC as not only a Northern-Party, but as a powerful movement of equals across the country. Maada Bio (of the Paopa SLPP) will stand no chance against a ticket of Chief Sam Sumana and the honourable, red and stubborn, lady Dr Sylvia Olayinka Blyden.

Chief Sam Sumana will dominate East, whilst Dr Sylvia Blyden will conquer the West. With solidarity and comradeship within the red camp, the North will fall into the fold accordingly. Dr Ernest Bai Koroma take note – this is the winning ticket for 2023.

    • Today the 6th of January 2021 marks the 22nd anniversary, when RUF rebels entered Freetown and disturbed the peace and sanity of Freetown residents with guns and mortar fires. On that dreadful day the 6th of January 1999, that saw many of our fellow Countrymen and women lost their lives in a senseless war and an orgy of killing spree. May their souls rest in peace. During the intervening years, our country has gone through a lot in trying to maintain our hard won peace, and long may it continue. For it was on this very day that drugged up and brainwashed rebels, child soldiers that had barely come off nappies, entered our city in the name of liberating it.

In their wake they left the destruction of life and property, the likes of which the city of Freetown never witnessed, and no one in their right mind want to see repeated again. Never again should the innocent people of Sierra Leone be subjected to that sort of violence. So as we debate about the prospects of the two political parties, APC/SLPP in the 2023 election, we should keep in mind the only way we Sierra Leoneans can express our opinions is through the ballot box.

The democracy we enjoy today, came at a huge price tag, the blood of our fellow innocent Sierra Leoneans. I wonder if we mark this occasion like you will expect from most democratic countries. Bio should really set this day as a national mourning day to remind people of our past history. Because if you forget your past, chances are you are more than likely repeat it.

    • Gentlemen – my big bro Alimamy Turay and Mr Adewale John although your words may ring true to some people. I find them inconsistent with the realities of political life all across the globe, especially in our little beloved Sierra Leone where the vast majority of our people are abjectly poor. Some may argue that in today’s world charm, charisma and good looks make all the difference in winning elections but to me, that is just a general misconception about how to win the hearts and minds of the electorate.

Again, although it is possible for some individuals to learn how to become more charming, eloquent and likeable through practice and perseverance not many people find it appealing to become something they are not. Human beings are different; we are like flowers – some flowers like Roses, Peonies and Blue lotuses unfold their soft petals as they bloom others like Orchids and Carnations never do, and there are others also like the Anemone that have no petals at all but they are all magnificent and beautiful – all of them are a feast for the eyes. My advice to Comrade Samura Kamara is for him to strive to be himself at all times just as existence created him. Sir, all you need to do is to make a few easy, natural adjustments in your political life. Firstly, as Alimamy and Adewale have advised, smile a little more, but continue to dress modestly so that you don’t appear looking very flashy and flamboyant in the eyes of the struggling common man – very important – a man of the people should be a carbon copy of them.

He dresses like them, eats and drinks like them, empathizes with their struggles and talks like them. Be Yourself! Again, put on the whole armor of humility, sincerity and honesty as you strive to become President of this Great nation. As diamonds are found hidden in the depths of the earth, so also must you dig deeper into your innermost self, search in earnest and find that dazzling, captivating light that is yours alone. That unmatched light is rare, authentic and innovative in all it forms, it is only that brightness that will empower and direct you on how to navigate vast uncharted territories just like the incomparable Star Polaris (Northern Star) directs stranded Mariners traversing the measureless majestic oceans.

  3. Samura Kamara looks awful in that profile picture. Does he not vet the photos that go out for publishing? I think he should sack his PR people, they are either useless or trying to sabotage his campaign. The poor man looks very ill or drunk in that photo. Come on guys, what were you thinking when you decided to release that photo for media publication?

You can say whatever you like about former president Koroma but you cannot criticise his ability to play up to the gallery. He was really media savvy, and either he or his media/PR team ensured that any photo that goes out into the public domain portrays his charisma. Sadly, this cannot be said of Samura Kamara. This is why it is difficult for Samura to win a mass appeal, especially winning the 3% electorate that he needs to convince, if he is to defeat Maada Bio at the polls.

Samura is always portrayed as lacking charisma. Please try and sort this out sir, if you want to win 2023. You are a very intelligent and politically capable man – but intelligence and experience alone do not win elections. You must try and engage media specialists outside your circles and even outside the APC party to help you with your campaign. This is very important.

    • Fantastic points raised there by Mr Adewale John. Totally agreed – Dr Samura Kamara is everything positive that one can envisaged from an aspirant political figure, but charisma, vigour and vitality. In spite of the very-important academic credentials and experience, these traits are also equally important. In today’s politics, your physical outlook, good looks and flair are essential attributes to winning elections. The APC must win 2023; so the leadership should take note and not be complacent this time around. Don’t gamble the continuous development and peace of the country.

  4. My learned brother called on colleagues in this platform to speak truthfully on the Paolo Conteh imprisonment and eventual release. I cannot agree more that, we need to speak the truth patriotically. However, I must confess, I take exception to the assumption that, Paolo’s APC party wanted him dead. How did you know that? Can you show the evidence for your claim? Why would the APC want to see Paolo Conteh, one of their strongmen, dead? This is not true. Contrary to your theory, Paolo’s defense juggernauts, the likes of Dr. Abdulai Osman Conteh, Lawyer Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara and Lawyer Ade Macauley are, to the best of my understanding, all APC strongmen.

These were the trio during the trial that set him free. How then can the APC party desired the death of Paolo Conteh as you claimed, yet, they were spending tons of money and resources legally defending him during his trial ordeal? I am afraid, this assumption is false. Secondly, it was not totally wrong for any citizen, including Paolo, to answer to the emergency call of the President. Different people can have different views on the subject. But, putting aside differences and be willing to serve your country during an emergency, was not wrong.

Thirdly, I believe that Paolo’s final release from prison doesn’t happen because the administration feels like, it is the right thing to do or some would say, because Dr. Samura has spoken. The reason for releasing Paolo now in my view is, due to divine intervention, in addition to him, being a political prisoner wrongly charged, who became an international commodity to be traded at the right time by the administration when the prize is right, for $400M MCC scorecard.

  5. Most importantly, Mr. Paolo Conteh has now joined his family. He should remember all those who paid visits to his family members on his behalf, when he was incarcerated, or even visited him whilst in prison. We say thanks to God Paolo is free from prison period. Who can challenge a government? Since his arrest, who would have ever demonstrated or sacrificed his/her life for Paolo’s freedom? Tell me! Do you think that everyone applauded for his release? No, they want him dead, and thanks to President Bio, let’s give him credit. What the former Army Maj. Defense minister did was totally wrong and inexcusable. As a university of law graduate, he needs not someone to interpret the law for him. Gentlemen on this noble platform, we are not only here for arguments but to educate one another and speak the truth. And we have to understand that, a mistake was made for us to learn from, but if someone fails to learn from it, well that person is stupid.

Most of the APCs contenders are happy indeed because they want him dead period. It happens in every country around the world; at the end of the year, most of the leaders pardon prisoners. On the other hand the former Vice president of Sierra Leone Victor Foh was once named public enemy. After he escaped from Pademba prison, he was appointed as an Ambassador to China, APC secretary general and Vice President under APC. Do you know why? Because all of them were on the same page to disrupt Kabba’s government. APC we know all your tactics, but the 70s are over.

  6. I am not surprised about this pardon at all. They have no choice, but to release our gallant soldier and the best Commander of the Republic of Sierra Armed forces Military Police ever. I was so delighted about his release. The Rtd Major Paolo Conteh the great, did nothing wrong as far as I am concerned. He was a victim of a botched and crooked system to get rid of him. My emotions and happiness were unspeakable, that I decided not to express my views as soon as the news broke, but to thank God, that his wife and children will be with him after such an unfortunate dilemma, orchestrated by operatives of the Bio SLPP kakistocracy. “Norf respect” to you sir.

All I know is this – the world knows, that you are a very brave Soldier, who was a victim of botched and crooked vengeful political hoodlums. The APC has won another decisive battle. Thanks to the APC Leadership’s experience and the calibre of the no-nonsense lawyers during the entire botched process.

Pardoning someone the world saw as a victim of political bias does not make sense. No political gains will be made. They will have their butts kicked out of power in 2023, because the pardon does not change anything in my view. However, as they say, “Ton pieds, Mon pieds”. The world and an overwhelming number of Sierra Leoneans love you, my Rtd Major Paolo Conteh the great. God bless you and give you and your family long life. “Waitin Dem Mean?

  7. How can anyone of sound mind crave for the return of the APC who have totally destroyed our country within a period of ten years? Is this not a sign that they are taking the electorate for granted regardless of what they do in office? And what did they do for the poor during their time in power?

  8. The whole world witnessed a presidential debate on stage in Sierra Leone, where the candidates expressed themselves and let the people decide, before polling day. Dr. Samura Kamara was asked “who is to be blamed for the collapse of the country’s economy”? his answer was “the government”. Can someone dispute that? This gentleman was the minister of foreign affairs and International Cooperation, from 2012 to 2017, Minister of finance and economic development from 2009 to 2013 and Governor of Bank from 2007 to 2009. He was also financial secretary under the late president Kabba! Dr. Samura Kamara is the wrong person to criticize Bio’s administration for economic collapse.

I advise you to choose another topic. Talking to the thousands of school children and their parents, concerning education Dr. Kamara really? Well I say thanks Bio’s initiative for the New Direction slogan. Today our education system is improving, thank you Papa Bio. Talking about human violation, everyone at home and abroad knows what the APC party is capable of. The Ex- retired army chief of staff; Samuel Omar William was cold bloodedly assassinated in his residence. What did the APC led EBK administration do to investigate and bring the criminals to justice, as we know that the command came from the top? I am so happy to see that president H.E. RTD.BRIG. DR. Julius Maada Bio with his prerogative of mercy, has pardoned the retired army Mr. Paolo Conteh.

Paolo Conteh was not in detention Centre; he was serving his prison time. So Mr. Kamara, don’t try to take credit like you are the one who urged Bio to release Paolo Conteh. Let me say this to the APC party members, if this man is your next party flagbearer, see you in heaven. Mr. Paolo has learnt his lesson, since being incarcerated in Pademba. They just want him dead for whatever reason. Dr. Sylvia O. Blyden was just promoting herself in her loud video postings. Has she ever mentioned Paolo Conteh in all her postings?

    • Happy New Year Mr Brima Sesay, for your contribution in thinking we don’t know the difference between serving prison time for real crime you commit, and being detained illegally by your government because they fear you. Let us get things right from the outset, Rt. Major Paolo Conteh was never guilty of plotting to overthrow, or God forbid, kill our president Bio. He was arrested in State House with a loaded gun, which he presented to the security screening area of State House for safe-keeping until he returned from the Corona virus task force meeting with president Bio.

He did not leave it in his car as he felt it was not safe. As a former defence minister the state is supposed to provide him with security detail. In the absence of that, like everything in Sierra Leone, he figured out he will have to do it for himself. If this was a man hell bent on taking out Bio, an alert body screening machine might have picked up the gun on his person. Compare that to Mr Kabila, the former president of DRC who was assassinated by his lone wolf body guard in his office. Unless Major Conteh was on a suicide mission and there was no evidence of that, the president’s well-armed security guards would have take him out.

So the end game would have been Paolo Conteh and Bio will be both dead. All in the name of what? Who stands to gain? By plunging our country to ethnic warfare that would have rivalled Rwanda’s genocide? This was a case built by an over jealous security at state house that wanted what we in Sierra Leone call “DE WANT A BUTTON ”So let us accept the truth and move on from this painful chapter in our history. At least he is with us, not like the countless others like MO Bass Taqi, Jim Forna, Conrad Inish, Brigadier John Bangura, Minah, Hon. Bambay kamara and many others, that were detained and executed by the state on lies. Let us always strive for the truth. Our country will be in a better place.

    • Anyone who would try to compare Comrade Samura Kamara and the old soldier in State House must be losing his marbles.(lol) Imagine comparing a gentle, loving dove to an erratic SLPP vulture that feeds on the sufferings of poorest of the poor among us. Maada Bio is totally unfit to be President of Sierra Leone; he lacks refined vision, the skills and ability to make independent decisions on his own, and it is for this reason that he has surrounded himself with a group of impractical individuals like JJ “The Hangman” Saffa that has been using his flimsy, half-baked policies and ideas to strangle our struggling masses trying to make ends meet in our Sierra Leone.

And the crooked David Francis is another good for nothing that is corrupt to the bone and marrow, a criminal he is, that is totally guilty of discreetly fleecing the system and accepting bribes to the tune of 1.5 million dollars. Our State House has now been transformed into a den of thieves, where the fleecers and looters of government properties and monetary resources are the ruthless tribesmen of the man in charge. How dare you compare a gentle, harmless caring dove to a merciless vulture with a hook-like beak designed for ripping apart rotten decaying flesh? What is there to celebrate about this incompetent President that has been proven to be lawless to the innermost core of his shady tribalistic being?

This is the same person, that same criminal that overthrew legitimate power and then capriciously went on to overthrow a man much more intelligent than him, with moral values that were congruent to his words – Capt Valentine Strasser. Paolo Conteh was tricked and entrapped by a bunch of SLPP hoodlums that were out to settle old scores; they had nothing on him and they know it so they had to let him go – Welcome home brother.

    • This was what Mr Brima Sesay said “Dr. Samura Kamara is the wrong person to criticize Bio’s administration for economic collapse.” But what Mr Brima Sesay did not mention was this – what was the role of one of our APC champions, Dr Samura Kamara in the NPRC regime? If you reply to my question, everyone on this glorious platform will certify that, “Dr Samura Kamara is the right person to criticize Bio’s administration for economic collapse.” The ball is now in your court Mr. Brima Sesay. Prove me wrong and let’s move on. Hallo Mr Brima Sesay and may God bless you.

  9. It has been said; “That no one ever forgets a toy that made him or her supremely happy as a child, even if that toy is replaced by another that some people consider to be much more nicer” Totally agree! Millions have now seen the light and are once again, craving and thirsting for the ultimate return of the Legendary APC. A Happy New Year shout-out to you Comrade Dr Samura Kamara the indomitable Lion that was born with an unruffled, unmatched demeanour to rescue a nation crumbling to dust and ashes from fires of cruelty that have been wickedly set by the hands of the SLPP criminal Cabal. Your time is now!

Indeed Sir, no one ever forgets a toy that once made them happy; And who is it among you millions languishing in abject poverty and despair in our beloved Serra Leone that has easily forgotten how the APC nurtured, fed and cared for you with love and empathy like a mother her children? Who has forgotten how we once roamed the streets of Freetown unafraid like young impalas skipping and cuddling one another without being chased by blood thirsty ravening wolves? Answer – was it not the APC that taught you the true meaning of “Solidarity” during those traumatizing moments of disasters that crossed our paths? Tell me, who carried you with tender shoulders of hope gallantly like giant sea turtles that plunged the depths clutching their young ones to prevent them from being drowned by the devastating impact of massive oncoming waves?

Did the Rising Sun ever refuse to shine on everyone under APC Rule? So, why are these brazen Criminals tirelessly fanning, stoking the fires of Tribalism, hatred, and anger and marginalization in our beautiful Sierra Leone that belongs to all of us? Economic hardships everywhere yet they are flushing away money down the drains of non-productivity by building mansions, and buying expensive cars while a family imprisoned by poverty struggles to find a bowl of soup in Sierra Leone.

  10. First of all I want to congratulate Rt. Major Paolo Conteh, for his pardon, and release from illegal detention. Common sense has finally prevailed. You served your country with distinction, and its rather unfortunate you were rewarded for your service to country and flag, by serving time in prison on trumped-up charges. Hopefully, Bio, has come to his senses, and realised how folly that idea was in the first place. Bottom line is, it did him no favours both in the eyes of Sierra Leoneans that believe in unity, freedom and justice, and the international community at large. Now its up to Bio to forge a new pathway, and a new beginning on the way politics is conducted in our country.

And is on that note you will be judge. And as the president, it all depends on how far he is ready to raise the bar of tolerance of criticism to some of his misguided policies that affects every living Sierra Leonean. Opposition doesn’t translate as your mortal enemy. Private feelings is not a guide of how to conduct politics. Otherwise you shouldn’t be in politics in the first place. When Bio and his cheerleaders advisors egged him on to go after his political opponents, what he should be made aware off, the very thing he is trying to do by getting in to a cock fight with figures like Rt. Major Paolo Conteh, and Dr Blyden, by accusing them of making Sierra Leone ungovernable, and by their own actions, or the lack of it, is trying to undermine the security of Sierra Leone.

The undeniable fact remains, your reaction Mr president to criticism is the very act that is undermining the security of our country. Criticism comes with the job of being president. You can’t say everyone should agree with you, that’s the definition of dictatorship. As the president, or any other politician for that matter, you can’t claim to have all the answers to the myriad of problems facing our country. There are no silver bullets for our problems. The only sliver lining is to work with everyone that cares about the development of our country, and regardless of which tribe, or region they come from. And whenever you take that route you will find Dr Blyden and Rt. Major Paolo Conteh and all Sierra Leoneans cheering you on.
